Rigorous
Every number is tested on data the model has not seen. We say what worked and what did not.
Spotlight began as a research group of PhD and master's students at the University of São Paulo. Today it is a public affairs company with its own technology, focused on Brazil and Latin America.
The group started at USP studying, with public data, how legislators and parties vote. That research produced the models and the platform that support Spotlight's services today.
We still work like researchers: we test each model on data it has not seen and we publish the results, including the ones that did not work.
Each square is a group: a party, a government, a sector, an interest. Where they overlap are those who decide together, and that is where a majority is born. Our job is to make that intersection visible before the decision.
Every number is tested on data the model has not seen. We say what worked and what did not.
The method is in plain sight. Every forecast shows its source, uncertainty range and date.
Client confidentiality comes before any showcase.
No partisan side. Government and opposition read with the same yardstick, in any country.
USP researchers and professionals with experience in institutional and government relations.
